Forgiving is not easy, especially when a relationship has become so troubled and everything in it seems negative. Yet this was not impossible for Uci, a sister who was willing to seek God in the midst of her distress.

Uci, the youngest of twelve siblings, is someone who is easy to get along with, humorous, and open, but also strong-willed and emotional. Disharmony in her marriage prompted Uci to return to Siantar for a while to avoid prolonged conflict. She and her husband then shared the parenting responsibilities for their two children.

The many problems in her household shaped Uci into someone who was easily angered, sensitive, and inclined to think negatively. This also affected her relationships with other people. Uci had a conflict with one of her siblings, and they did not communicate with each other for a long time because there was deep hatred in her heart.

Behind all those problems, there was wisdom that led Uci to come to God. She began to pray often and get involved in many spiritual activities. In her struggles, Uci asked to be brought together with people who would draw her closer to God.

Uci's prayer was answered through a sister in the Siantar congregation, who turned out to be her school friend from junior high. This sister, who had just moved to Siantar, joined the school alumni group, and it was there that they became friends again.

After some time, Uci expressed her willingness to study the Bible. Her open nature and heart that wanted to change made it easy for her to receive the word of God. Uci was very enthusiastic in every lesson and was convinced that meeting these disciples of Jesus was the answer to her prayers.

During the learning process, Uci's greatest challenge was forgiving people who had hurt her or with whom she had had problems. From the beginning, Uci insisted that she would not apologize to her sibling. However, when she entered the topic of repentance and learned how she had to forgive according to God's word, Uci was touched and cried. She realized that by refusing to forgive others all this time, she had hurt God's heart.

Right then and there, Uci immediately took action: she apologized to her sibling over the phone. It was truly remarkable to see how the sincerity of her heart to repent and make peace with others enabled Uci to forgive and to apologize. She even contacted one by one the people she had once quarreled with to do the same.

On February 14, 2019, Uci made the decision to repent and be baptized. She was filled with joy because her life was restored, and she became a calmer and more positive person in facing everything. Even though her marriage was still in the process of reconciliation, Uci kept fighting and praying for her family.

“What I am most grateful for is that my life could be restored, given forgiveness, and made worthy,” Uci said. “Even though I am still struggling with various problems, God gives relief and peace to my soul. Many of my prayers have been answered when I was willing to come and seek God.”

To this day, Uci actively serves in KKK (Children's Kingdom) and contributes her singing talent in worship services. She has a longing to be used more in God's kingdom. May Uci continue to grow in faith and be zealous in living life as a disciple of Jesus.
