Good News from the Lampung Congregation - David

David’s spiritual journey bore fruit after a year of Bible study and marriage counseling. At first, David became interested in going deeper into God’s word after seeing how his wife, Stevy, who had a dominant character, was willing to repent and learn to become a better person. After Stevy became a disciple, David also gave his heart to know Jesus more deeply.

David works in a city about two hours away from Bandar Lampung, where Stevy works and lives. In the past David only came home to see his wife once a month, and there were even times when he came home only once every 2-3 months because their communication was not very good. After Stevy became a disciple, David was willing to make time and set aside the travel cost to come home as often as twice a week, especially every Saturday, so that he could attend Sunday worship.

In the course of his study, David experienced conflict with Stevy, and this made his faith waver a little. He had thought that after his wife became a disciple of Jesus, their marriage would be better and far from problems.

When other disciples came to help them, David shared that his desire to be baptized was very great but was hindered by problems in his marriage. Even so, what deserves praise is David’s determination to keep moving forward.

“I have to move on,” he said. “My spirituality must not depend on my wife, and I want to focus on my salvation.”

From that time on, David learned to be the spiritual leader in his family. His wife also changed a great deal, and their marriage relationship kept getting better.

After undergoing repentance, on December 30, 2018, David was baptized. To this day, the strength of David and Stevy as a couple lies in evangelism. Many of their friends have come to know the community, and some are studying the Bible. Let us pray that both of them can bear much fruit in the Kingdom of God. To God be the glory!
