Good News from the Pekanbaru Congregation - Nita Siregar

Nita Siregar became a disciple of Jesus in 2014. At that time, she was still nineteen years old and had just arrived in Pekanbaru. Nita, who needed friends in a foreign place, found them in the congregation. Even though she had a bad past and unhealthy friendships, Nita was given the opportunity to know the Truth.

After becoming a disciple of Jesus, Nita struggled with purity. The brothers and sisters kept trying to help her, but Nita withdrew. It turned out that she secretly had a boyfriend and was living in impurity. She was unable to follow the advice she received, and Nita drifted farther and farther from fellowship. In the end, she married her boyfriend and left the congregation.

When Nita gave birth to her first child, the congregation came to visit and pray for them. A few months later, Nita came back to worship. It turned out that after getting married, Nita was continually abused by her husband. She experienced repeated violence, even while pregnant and after giving birth. This made Nita realize that her spouse did not fear the LORD.

Nita struggled with feelings of worthlessness because of her bad past, which made her feel that her husband had the right to abuse her. After receiving guidance, Nita came to understand that there were sins she had not yet confessed. This was what caused her always to fear not being accepted, to fear rejection.

After learning to open up, Nita felt relieved. She felt very guilty before God, but was strengthened again by the word and the love of the congregation. Nita succeeded in forgiving herself and the people who had hurt her, because she herself had been forgiven. This conviction gave her peace and joy, so that she was no longer hopeless in living her life. Nita could even see her husband as someone who needed to be loved and to receive forgiveness from her and from God.

On December 25, 2018, Nita was restored to the congregation after giving her testimony and explaining why she had left the church, and then returned again. She saw that the only way for her was to return to God and the congregation. May Nita continue to remain faithful in the faith and be used by God as a disciple who knows the meaning of true forgiveness and acceptance. Amen.
