Good News from the Malang Congregation - Geby

He is the one who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not because of our works, but because of His own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.” (2 Timotius 1:9)

The Lord calls people who live in a way that pleases Him. He looks at the heart, not at background, wealth, or what is valuable in human eyes. Baptism is salvation for everyone, and His love goes beyond human understanding. This is what Geby experienced, a disciple who was baptized on Sunday, 16 September 2018 at Everyday Smart Hotel, Malang.

Geby's introduction to the Lord began two years ago, when she met Risna (a HOPE Malang teacher) at CTC (Computer Training Center). Geby, who was still in high school at the time, had the opportunity to learn computers for free. Even though she lived in an orphanage, she never felt inferior about learning new things. Geby and Risna became close, and after training was over, they stayed in touch through social media.

Nineteen years of being left by her parents at an orphanage caused Geby to grow up stubborn. She found it hard to trust other people, and she was often involved in problems. Even though she was eventually reunited with her parents, Geby chose to keep living independently. She did not want to depend on them because she felt she did not find the affection she needed.

Until one day, Geby went through a major struggle in her job and was forced to stop working. Without sufficient income, Geby's life reached a difficult point.

But she did not face it alone. Through Risna, Geby joined the ministry Singles Malang. Little by little, the Lord softened her emotional character. Geby learned to build a personal relationship with the Lord and began to change her life.

Because she was often abandoned, hurt by the people closest to her, and even looked down on, forgiving became the hardest thing for Geby. It was the cross of Jesus that enabled her to accept that challenge. The confidence that the Lord loves her changed Geby into someone ready to forgive and begin a new journey with Him.

Now Geby is joyful, relieved, at peace with her circumstances, and full of gratitude. The Lord is also using her to serve at the orphanage where she was raised. The love of Christ overcomes the impossible. From someone who was looked down on, Geby became a person who gives impact to others. For her, the love from brothers and sisters to this day gives her strength to live a new life in Christ.
