Enjoying a Healthy Spiritual Life
As long as there is still breath in the body, it is never too late for those who want to make a commitment to live rightly in the Lord. Mr. Arief “Takezo,” a father of three who works in the catering industry in Cikarang, has proven this. At the age of 52, on March 27, 2020, Mr. Arief finally surrendered himself fully to the Lord through baptism.
The man who earned the nickname Takezo from his skill in Japanese martial arts went through a long Bible Study journey, which was more than three years. Long before getting to know the community of Jesus’ disciples at GKDI Cikarang, he had once been active in student and college Christian ministry in Solo. However, the course of his life changed when he married a woman of a different faith. From that time on, his life was full of drama. He experienced the height of success, and then fell to the lowest point financially and in his marriage.
The turning point in Mr. Arief’s life came when he was challenged to choose between continuing his worldly adventure or living a spiritually healthy life in the Lord. At that very moment, his mind was opened. He was willing to leave his wild adventures behind, stop smoking, and keep his distance from friends who often invited him to pubs, karaoke, and drinking alcohol. Not only that, he also tried to repair his relationship with his children, even though he had to lose his wife for a while.
Mr. Arief has become an example of repentance for all of us. We deeply appreciate Mr. Arief’s heart that was willing to humble himself before God, to be guided, advised, and to make a commitment to live rightly. He was not ashamed when he had to set his life in order from his heart’s tendency to sin, and he wanted to offer the rest of his life to serve the Lord. Welcome to the Kingdom, Mr. Arief!
