Good News from the Yogyakarta Congregation - Alfa

Leave Bad Habits for Christ Alfaris, affectionately called Alfa, is the eldest of two siblings. Because he was raised in a Christian family with a father who served as a pastor, reading the Bible and praying were nothing unfamiliar to Alfa.
In 2011, Alfa moved to Bandung for college while working. There, Alfa fell into a bad crowd, so his studies were neglected and left unfinished. In 2018, Alfa returned to Cilacap and lived with his parents. In July of that same year, Alfa moved to Yogyakarta, following the advice of his younger brother, Febry, who had already become a Disciple in Yogyakarta at that time.
One day Febry invited Alfa to join a badminton sports activity with several brothers. During the activity, Alfa felt a warm welcome from the brothers and this made him feel comfortable. Their friendship continued, until in August 2018, one of the brother named Daniel invited Alfa to do a Bible study. With help from brother Rio, Widy, and Daniel, Alfa began to study God's word.
In Bible study, Alfa discovered many new things about the role of the word that he had not understood before. Praying and reading the word had only been routines for him, and he had not yet become a doer of the word. When learning about the cross, Alfa saw Jesus' immense love and sacrifice for his life. He realized that he was a sinful man deserving punishment, but God forgave him and never left him.
The hardest thing for Alfa was denying himself from a number of bad habits, including defiling his body by smoking. This was a very difficult challenge for Alfa. However, because he knew it was sin, he fought to leave it all behind and turn to God's truth. Finally, with true faith, Alfa decided to be baptized on 21 October 2018.
Becoming a Disciple gave Alfa a clear purpose in life, and he was determined to keep pursuing God's truth. Alfa has felt many changes since coming to know God. His relationship with his younger brother, which had not been close, slowly began to improve. Even his previously strained communication with his parents has now become warm.
In his journey as a disciple, Alfa is always enthusiastic about serving the congregation. He is willing to share his faith experience with others, active as an usher, helping in the music team ministry for KKK (Kingdom Kids), and participating in various single activities. Alfa does whatever he can give for the glory of God. He is grateful for God's goodness and is committed to continuing to do his best for God. - Church GKDI is currently present in 35 cities.
