Good News from the Pekanbaru Congregation - Grasela Siregar

Being the youngest child was no reason for Grasela Siregar not to be independent. After graduating from school, Grasela moved away and worked in Pekanbaru. With her income, she helped support her family's economy back home.
Her young age made Grasela eager to pursue her dreams. Her journey toward success went through ups and downs. Grasela suffered losses when she partnered with a company that promised her huge profits. Her savings were drained completely. Stressed and hopeless, Grasela shut herself in her room and limited her social interactions.
In 2016, Japerius, a brother who often served at Grasela's workplace, invited her to attend a church. Grasela had come for a time and studied the Bible. However, because she had not yet made up her heart, she stopped at the end of that year. She felt she was not ready to become a Disciple of Jesus who faithfully carries the cross.
After repeatedly turning down invitations to worship from the brothers and sisters, in June 2018, Grasela was willing to return to studying the Bible and worshiping. Over the previous two years, she had visited various churches, but still felt empty. She did not feel the same love as when she studied the Bible with her brothers and sisters.
After thinking it through carefully, Grasela decided to rejoin the congregation and study the Bible more deeply. As proof of her seriousness, she even bought a motorcycle so she would not need rides to and from worship services.
In October 2018, Grasela decided to become a Disciple of Jesus. She went through repentance and was baptized. Grasela rejoiced because for two years God had continued to give her opportunities, until she could understand the meaning of life as a Disciple. Grasela was grateful that the other disciples did not give up and continued to love her, even though she used to avoid them often. At present, Grasela is actively inviting several of her friends to study the Bible.
