There is a saying that where there is a woman, there is a miracle. Another saying declares that women are God’s masterpiece, and that women are present at the beginning of every great thing.
Despite the many wonderful things said about women, a woman’s life is not always as beautiful as the saying goes or entirely smooth. Women have their own struggles, problems, challenges, and difficulties in their lives. Not infrequently, their problems are so great and painful that they lose their sense of pride in themselves.
How should Christian women respond to this?
Concern Over Women’s Situation
For my life is spent with sorrow, and my years with sighing; my strength fails because of my affliction, and my bones grow weak. – Psalm 31:10
The troubling situations experienced by women and girls in various parts of the world today make me both angry and sad. In a number of third-world countries, marriage forced upon young girls is not uncommon. And, to this day, many women and girls still become victims of trafficking and slavery networks.
There are also situations where a woman who is already married is her partner’s “property.” A husband has the right to do anything to his wife, including taking her life without facing legal charges. Most sadly, the things above often happen because they are forced to follow their parents’ wishes or in order to ease the family’s economic burden.
Are sorrow, suffering, disappointment, bitterness, oppression, or mistreatment part of your life right now? Whatever you are going through at this moment, you must still be proud to be a woman. Why is that?
Being a Woman Is Grace
But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain. – 1 Corinthians 15:10a
Perhaps you are a woman who has gone through, and is still going through, a difficult path in life. You were abused when you were little. You were excluded and bullied because of your appearance. Your partner left you for another woman who was more attractive and younger. You are a single mother who has to raise a child alone. Or, you are judged as too thin, too fat, too tall, too short.
Whoever you are, whatever your past, or whatever other people do and say about you, keep being proud to be yourself. The reason? Because God created you by His grace!
As a woman, you were created with a privilege that no other creature has. You may seem gentle, but you are a strong person. You have sharp intuition and high endurance under pressure, and you empathize easily. A reliable communicator, a good listener, and able to do several tasks at the same time. And there are still many more special abilities that women have.
One day, you may give birth to a child. You will care for, nurture, and raise the lives entrusted by God. Even if not, you are still a special creature in God’s eyes!
You Are Precious in His Eyes
Because you are precious in My eyes and honored, and I love you. – Isaiah 43:4a
You are precious and honored in God’s eyes, and above all, He loves you so deeply!
See, I have engraved you on the palms of My hands; your walls are continually before Me. – Isaiah 49:16
God has engraved your image and name on the palm of His hand, and you never escape His notice for even a second!
You have kept count of my sorrows; put my tears in Your bottle. – Psalm 56:8a
Do not think that God does not care about you. Sadness, hardship, and your grief do not go unnoticed by Him. He counts every one of your tears and keeps them in His bottle*. Yes, how precious and special you are in His eyes!
Live According to His Plan
And the God of all grace, who called you in Christ to His eternal glory, will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you, after you have suffered a little while. – 1 Peter 5:10
Sometimes our suffering feels heavier because we feel alone. In reality, there are many women who may be experiencing things similar to what you are going through.
In this digital age, you can seek inspiration through the internet or books about modern female figures whose life journeys were full of twists and turns. There are women who were once insecure or bitter about their lives and then became great motivators. Or women who were once victims of violence and eventually became spokespeople traveling the world to fight for women’s rights.
Of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? – Psalm 27:1
Do not be afraid to face the challenges in your life right now. The Lord is your light and salvation. He is the stronghold of your life, so why should you be afraid? Face your problems, and do not run from reality. Perhaps God has a beautiful plan behind all the bitter things that happen. Your life is not over. Use the opportunities you have to rise again and rebuild your life according to His plan.

For You have delivered me from death, even kept my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life. –Psalm 56:13Everything that happens in your life is to restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you so that you may live in His glory. Do not let the world with all its suffering snatch away God’s plan for your life. Rise up, overcome all those challenges, and find God’s perfect plan in your life.
Strength and honor are her clothing, and she laughs at the days to come. – Proverbs 31:25
