Do You Feel Your Appearance Isn't Perfect? Come Reflect on These 3 Things!

Many people want to have an appearance that is perfect. In fact, for some people, appearance is everything. Men and women alike do everything they can to get the appearance they consider ideal: using makeup or skin care, treatments, even plastic surgery. Everything is done to have an appearance that is perfect .

On the other hand, this desire to look attractive can become an obsession. There are also people who are willing to do extreme things to achieve a perfect appearance. Like a Korean woman, Hang Mioku, who injected cooking oil into her own face because she had no money for plastic surgery. Instead of becoming beautiful, her face suffered severe damage.

Should we pursue looking so perfect?

sempurna-gkdi-1 Before God, We Are Perfect The matter of appearance can make us feel inferior. Seeing other people with a physical appearance that seems better, we too can feel insecure. At a glance this may seem natural, because everyone will surely compare themselves with others.

However, that comparison should not blur our self-image. Is our worth entirely determined by appearance? If we do not look like TV stars, does that mean we are less valuable?

If so, then that perspective is what we need to change.

Psalm 100:3a says, Know that the Lord is God; it is He who made us, and we are His. It is that glorious and great God who created us. He made us well, just as we are, and precious in His sight. Therefore, perfection does not come from appearance, but from our status.

In other words: we are perfect because we are God's creation that is perfect. If you feel inferior because you are less attractive than others, remember this principle.

What is more, God looks not at appearance, but at the heart. This is what 1 Samuel 16:7b says, .What man sees is not what God sees; man looks at what is before the eyes, but the LORD looks at the heart.

The verse above says that God looks more at our heart . He does not consider physical appearance, whether it is perfect or not. If God sees and values what is in the heart, do you still need to feel inferior as a human being created by Him?

Perfect on the Inside, Then on the Outside

That we still need to take care of our appearance, that is true. Because people will still see the outside first. However, we already understand that our worth does not come from appearance. We are valuable because God created us.

If you long to see yourself more positively, here are several things worth reflecting on.

1. You Are Precious in God's Sight

Every person is born different. Appearance, skin color, even our body shape, all vary. No one is exactly the same as another. However, the influence of the world can make us see certain skin colors, or certain body shapes, as more perfect. Maybe that can make us jealous; why do other people have an appearance that seems better?

But do not worry. There is good news for you. Whatever your physical condition is, we are still precious in His sight.

Genesis 1:27, So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

The verse above can truly strengthen us. God created human beings in His image. If so, we realize how highly God values us as His creation.

Whatever your body shape, whatever your skin color, remember that you lack nothing in God's sight. You are still His beautiful workmanship!

2. Be Grateful for Yourself

Psalm 139:13-14a, For You formed my inward parts; You knit me together in my mother's womb.

God's Word reminds us that we have been woven and formed by God. There is nothing accidental in our creation. God has created each one of us with an extraordinary design.

Whatever the world says cannot change that. If you feel yourself starting to be influenced, remember this. You are still perfect and precious, because you were created by God. From here, surely you can find it easier to be grateful, right?

Not only that, God created you very well. No matter what your appearance is, this will help you remain grateful.

3. Present Yourself the Best You Can

Being grateful for your condition is not the same as presenting yourself carelessly. When we value ourselves, it will be visible in the clothes we wear. One study even says that the type of clothes we wear will affect our mood.

Wearing good and neat clothing will increase our self-confidence. It does not even have to be branded and expensive clothing.

Then, maintain your body shape. Exercising and watching your diet are the right things you can do. The more ideal your weight, the more attractive you will look.

For women, you need to take good care of your skin's health according to your ability. Wearing appropriate and proportional makeup will help you a lot.

For men, we need to maintain cleanliness and body odor. Also, maintain your hairstyle and wear the right clothes.

The Attitude of the Heart First, Then Appearance

Perfect begins with the attitude of the heart, then appearance. When you realize that you were created by an amazing God, you will surely be able to see life much better.

Let us live each day with confidence. Remember how wonderfully and marvelously God created you!
