Our Hair and God's Power

Every part of the body you were created by God perfectly, including the hair on your head. Amazing, isn't it?

Hair may be small, but it is remarkable. Some is black, blond, and red. Some is straight, wavy, and curly. All of that is the power of God. His power is truly amazing, isn't it?

Seeing all this, I am amazed. How wonderfully God created us perfectly, in such detail according to His design and power. But have you ever imagined that there is one more lesson important about God that we can learn from our hair?

Facts About Human Hair

Before that, let us look into an important factor in hair growth, namely the follicle.

While still in the womb, a baby has 5 million follicles, with 100,000 of them on the head. These follicles are like the beginnings of roots where hair grows, and each person's follicles are not the same. That is what causes the differences in the shape of human hair; some is straight, wavy, curly, or tightly coiled. 

Just imagine how many strands of hair each person has, especially on the head.

This means counting the hairs is impossible. Or even if it could be done, it would take a very long time. Try counting all the hairs on your head. Can you estimate how many there are?

It is different with God. I once read in Matthew 10 : 29-31, Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father's will. And even the hairs of your head are all counted. Therefore do not be afraid, for you are worth more than many sparrows. 

Imagine that, God knows exactly how many hairs are on our heads.

Reading those verses, my mind was stirred. At first, the Lord Jesus was saying that God the Father is so powerful that He knows the fate of sparrows sold cheaply, even to the number of hairs on our heads.

I thought, what do Jesus' words mean? What meaning and values can we learn from the verse above? 

From Hair, God Truly Is Almighty

If God knows everything, including the number of hairs, this means only one thing: He is an extraordinary God. He is the God who has power over everything. He is Almighty God.

As it is written in Psalm 147:5,  Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is beyond measure. 

From this we know that measuring God's ability is truly impossible. God's strength and wisdom are infinite, beyond human understanding.

Can you imagine who has the wisdom and power to make hair grow on your body? Who is so powerful as that? None other than our Lord, God the Father in heaven.

If God is able to do such extraordinary things, then surely you can trust that this same God is able to watch over your life.

Do Not Fear or Worry About Life, God Is With You

If our God is the God who has power over everything, is there anything we need to fear?

Indeed, it is natural for us to have fear and worry about this life. Life is not always easy. The road will not always be smooth, and the sky will not always be blue. But God will always be with us.

Matthew 10 : 31 : Therefore do not be afraid, for you are worth more than many sparrows. 

Look at the sparrows in nature. Is anyone taking care of them? Is anyone specially feeding them? Yes, the Father Himself. If that is how God cares for the sparrows, how much more will He care for you.

Still, perhaps you think: “I still feel worried, I am still afraid.” Fear and worry can be useful. You can anticipate all things in this life, so that you are driven to do your best. But have you surrendered that fear and worry to God, and begun to take steps?

If God has promised to care for you, surely you will not let fear control you.

We Are Under His Shadow

If God pays attention and is able to count the hairs on our heads, is there anything we need to worry about in Him? We can place our security in the hands and power of the Father in heaven. 

Never doubt that we are under the shadow of Almighty God! If God knows the details of our bodies so well, He also knows what is best for us. 

Perhaps we feel hopeless about life. Or we feel imperfect and worry about the future. Yet that does not diminish God's power. Remember, there is a God who is powerful. There is a God who is able to fully understand us.
