Moms in Touch, Beginning with One Step of Faith

The Jambi congregation has five married sisters. With the busyness of life, plus the fairly long distances between our homes, it is difficult for us to gather with everyone present, except on Sundays. 

This also led us to think for a time how impossible it would be to hold an event on a weekday to reach mothers in the city of Jambi. Yet, during the COVID-19 pandemic, when many activities had to be carried out online, there was an opportunity for the sisters Married Ministry to meet without being limited by distance or travel time.

Finally, in faith, we began with one small step, namely by holding Moms in Touch (MIT). This is a special event for mothers that discusses married life, parenting, and spirituality. We wanted to invite mothers in Jambi, wherever they live, to connect with one another and know God. This step of faith also stirred the zeal of the married sisters in Jambi to reach souls, and not focus only on each of their own life problems. 

Even though not all married sisters were able to play a role or actively invite guests, we decided to keep holding this event. We are grateful that Jambi's first MIT launch was attended by 18 people, including two guests from Jambi, as well as 11 sisters from various cities outside Jambi. 

That first step increased our faith, and at the second MIT, four guests came. Their response was very positive; there was even a guest who faithfully attended every MIT event and was interested in sharing her personal experiences. For this, we ask for prayers that this step of faith can continue and gather more souls for the Lord. 

A Solid Team

Building a solid team is not easy. MIT or Mom in Touch is a program for mothers to reach new souls. At first, this program was intended for mothers who waited for their children while they were at school in the morning. However, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, meetings are now held online. Here, we discuss marriage, spiritual life, and matters of raising children. This event has a discussion-based concept that is not rigid, so mothers find it easier to share stories and ask questions. 

At the beginning of the program, all the team members were very enthusiastic, but over time, their enthusiasm began to wane. One by one, each sister began to be frequently unable to attend, and there was even an event that was attended by only two participants. 

But God is good. We also made a recommitment, then distributed responsibilities evenly among all team members to serve at MIT events. Praise God, they became enthusiastic again because they felt more involved. They were not just spectators, but could also contribute, among other things by serving as the opening speaker, moderator, and closing speaker. Our unity of heart as a team has had an impact on the number of guests and those studying the Bible, which averages three or four people. 

Now, with five sisters, we are guiding three sisters who are studying the word, and one of them is almost finished with the lessons. Please pray that we can bear fruit soon and become even more united. Amen.
