God's Love Is Real at All Times
Often being ignored or rarely seeing examples of love can make it hard for someone to feel God's love in their life. Yet God always has a way for us to know that He loves His children. Nadia, a final-semester student at one of the universities in Malang, was finally able to see that.
It began with an invitation from a friend, Andreas, from Bali Congregation, Nadia attended a worship service at GKDI Malang. Impressed by the sermon material, which she felt was deep and insightful, Nadia was moved to get to know the congregation. She looked for information on social media and website to assure herself that this community practices the truth. It turned out that she had long wanted to know about the Bible.
The opportunity to meet several sisters came about at a Christmas event on her campus, which then continued into a number of worship gatherings. In her first personal meeting with a sister from the campus ministry, Nadia poured out her feelings openly. Even though it was unplanned, she felt great relief because she could share the burdens and struggles she was experiencing in life.
A life journey that was not easy shaped Nadia into a cheerful person who always tries to be considerate of other people's feelings. However, the many unpleasant things she experienced since childhood made her feel less loved and made it difficult for her to feel other people's love. As a result, she could not see how much God loved her. Her sense of insecurity often made Nadia hesitant when making decisions, inclined to see her own shortcomings, and to run from problems. The heavier the problem, the more she would be swept away in destructive thoughts.
Jeremiah 29:11-13 gave Nadia new hope about God's plan for her life and about how to build a real relationship with Him. She believed that God loved her no matter what. Jesus' sacrifice on the cross convinced her that she was precious in God's sight. Personally, Jesus' death had saved her from sin, wounds, pain, disappointment, and anger.
Her strong confidence in God's presence with her also came from Isaiah 46:4. “Even to your old age I am He, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made you and I will continue to sustain you; I will carry you and save you.”
On Sunday, July 27, 2019, Nadia received the Lord into her life, and believed that she had God and brothers and sisters who loved her. As a new person, Nadia is now more open with others, while continuing to struggle to overcome her insecuri-ty. She has given her heart to serve God, both in church and in the PMK (Christian Student Fellowship) on her campus. Her humility and teachable spirit make Nadia shine even more. And she believes God can use her to help and share her faith with the people around her. Amen!
