Live to the Fullest – 8 Secrets of a Full Life (Part 2)

Besides the first four points of Secrets of a Full Life Part 1, what other four secrets can we apply?

5. Do What You Love

hidup - gkdi 5

Because we only live once, why not fill it by doing what you love most? Do the things that make your life feel more alive, with this note:

    1. make sure it is right / in line with the will of God,
    2. done in the proper measure, and
    3. at the right time.
For example, suppose what you love most is eating bakmi (it passes Filter No. 1 because it is not a sin), and you do it five times a day until dawn. Clearly, that is not good either (see point 1 about Healthy Living).

Fill your life with things you enjoy in God, and do them within reasonable limits. That way your life will feel full and balanced.

Rejoice, young man, in your youth, and let your heart be glad in the days of your youth. Follow the desires of your heart and what your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment. – Ecclesiastes 11:9

6. Love What You Do

hidup - gkdi 6

Even when we have planned everything so carefully, there are still things that happen outside our control. If today you are in a situation where you have not yet had the chance to do what you love, do not worry. You can love what you do.

Sometimes we are so focused on climbing to the “mountaintop” that we do not enjoy the scenery on our left and right, which is also beautiful. We want to reach the goal quickly, but forget to enjoy each step of the process.

Life does not always go the way we hope, but that is no reason not to love the journey. Do what you love, and love what you do.

Whatever you do, do it with all your heart, as for the Lord and not for people. – Colossians 3:23

7. Stay Close to God

hidup - gkdi 7

If you have already applied points 1-6 but still feel that something is missing or empty, perhaps these last two points are the answer.

A full life is found only in Jesus. He allows us to go through various things so that we will seek Him and have a close relationship with Him. It is an intimate relationship with God that can make you feel full and satisfied.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it in all its fullness. – John 10:10

Jesus answered him, "Whoever drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water that I will give him will never be thirsty forever. Instead, the water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." – John 4:13-14

8. Cultivate the Resolve to Always Be Content and Give Thanks

hidup - gkdi 8

Human beings are indeed never satisfied. When you do not have one, you want one. After you have it, you want two, three, and so on. Without the resolve to give thanks and be content, you will never feel fullness in life.

Regardless of what you do not yet have, do you remember that God has already given you so much? The breath of life, health, family, work, complete limbs, community in God, enough food each day, and more. Imagine how many people long for the life you have today.

You may strive to reach the things you want to attain, but do not forget to count the blessings that God has given. Do not let what you do not or do not yet have make you forget to give thanks for all that you are able to enjoy today. If the measure of satisfaction depends only on what you have and achieve, when will you ever have a full life?

Give thanks in all things, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. – 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Keep your life free from the love of money and be content with what you have. For God has said: "I will never leave you, and I will never forsake you." – Hebrews 13:5 So, what are you waiting for? Put these eight secrets into practice right away, and enjoy a full life! -
