Good News from the Semarang Congregation - Jihan

Thirsty for God
Receiving the word and walking in repentance is not easy for those who are just beginning to know Christ from the ground up. Yet this was not an obstacle for Jihan, a sister from Banten, who decided to accept Jesus as her Savior.Born into a family with a different religious background, Jihan had to go through a winding life journey at the age of 21. In June 2019, Jihan moved to Semarang with her child, who was six months old at the time. Far from relatives and living in an unfamiliar city was certainly a difficult challenge. On the other hand, Jihan's home turned out to be near a church. A disciple of Jesus who happened to live in the same area then invited her to study the Bible.
During the learning process, the brothers and sisters in Semarang Congregation saw how great Jihan's thirst for God was. From initially not understanding Bible verses at all, Jihan learned to draw insight from every word she read. She often asked questions and sought assurance as to whether her understanding of a verse was in line with its true meaning.
The struggles Jihan found hard to overcome were a hot temper and jealousy. However, her desire to be accepted by God and to receive the crown of salvation in heaven one day became the starting point of the change in her life. As she learned about sin, she increasingly understood the truth and the values God desires for life. Christ's sacrifice on the cross deeply touched her heart, and Jihan did not want to make Jesus weep and suffer even more because of her sins. She was grateful that there was Someone willing to love and forgive her so that she could have a new life.
On September 21, 2019, Jihan made the decision to become a disciple of Jesus. The change in her life was clearly seen and felt by her brothers and sisters in the congregation. From someone who often made excuses, was not used to saying "sorry" and "please," and was reluctant to ask for or accept advice, Jihan became humble and open.
Jihan was overjoyed after being baptized because she still had the opportunity to repent and know Jesus Christ. At present, she is trying to make time and offer her home for the congregation as a place to pray and gather together, and she is determined to keep making God the top priority in her life.
