Good News from the Jayapura Congregation - Hizkia
Giving the Best to God
A longing to know God and to know what He desires will drive a person to seek answers wherever they are. And, Hizkia, a graduate with cum laude honors from one of the health polytechnics in Jayapura, finally succeeded in finding the answer.
As the eldest of four siblings, Hizkia had been taught from childhood to be independent. He was accustomed to always being the best, and to being an example to his three younger siblings. Outstanding academic achievement is proof of his dedication.
However, apart from all those achievements, there was one question for which he had not yet found the answer: what did God want from him? There was a great longing within Hizkia to live according to God's will. He realized that his life as a Christian had not grown much, and could even be said to be merely a routine.
During his college years, Hizkia became acquainted with sister Kristin, who tirelessly invited him to join PDA (Bible Discussion Fellowship) and a number of other activities held by Campus Ministry GKDI Jayapura. Finally, after being invited so often, Hizkia attended a Praise & Worship event organized by Youth Ministry (Campus & Teens) in September 2019.
As it turned out, the event themed You Worth It with a sermon delivered by Rev. Moses Sinukaban from the Jakarta Congregation moved Hizkia to attend Sunday service. Two months later, he made the decision to become a disciple of Jesus.
Now Hizkia is committed to winning his family in the Lord. He wants to be the light of Christ for his alma mater campus, where he works as a teaching assistant. In addition to helping young souls know God, he is currently also eager to support the continuation of PDA at his polytechnic. Hizkia has learned that the best thing he can give is only for God. To God be the glory!
