Day 21: 31 Days of Prayer
Verse:
“But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask it of God, --who gives to everyone generously and without reproach--, then it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, without doubting at all, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed here and there by the wind. Such a person should not think that he will receive anything from the Lord. For a double-minded person will not be steady in his life.” (Yakobus 1:5-8 - TB)Reflection:
The certainty we find in the Word of God about wisdom is that God gives it to us when we ask Him without doubt. God’s wisdom helps us live through Him and for Him, and to please Him by the way we live our lives. After all, He has given us the Holy Spirit, who helps us become wise. Wisdom helps us evaluate every situation not only with alertness, but also with conviction and spiritual understanding. We can read, study, and fill our minds with knowledge every day, but without wisdom from God, we will not learn how to use our knowledge to act and speak in the right way. With wisdom, we can learn to be like Christ, and we can learn to help others so that they may live in a way that pleases God. Without wisdom, we can fool around and say words we should not say, do things we should not do, and make decisions we later regret. Without wisdom, we can defile the name of God by the way we live and act.Challenge:
Today, pray for wisdom. Every day, before every conversation, before every major decision, and before any season of transition (a new school, job, location, etc.), pray for wisdom from the Lord to help you find ways to help every person and every situation with insight and understanding from the Lord.Translated from the article “31 Days of Prayer: Day 21” by Daniel Berk
