A Fulfilling Life and Freedom from Loneliness

A Fulfilling Life and Freedom from Loneliness

Before coming to know the Lord, many people feel their lives are empty and lonely, as if everything is moving without purpose and hope. Bayu, a student in the economics faculty at one of the universities in Palangka Raya, once experienced this.

During orientation, Bayu was invited to a worship service by a sister who was his upperclassman. At first he did not immediately agree, but then he thought there was no harm in trying. Even though he was a little surprised that the worship service was being held in a hotel, Bayu still came. There, he felt a different atmosphere in the gathering of the disciples. He felt so welcomed; people greeted him warmly and wanted to get to know him better. This was something he had never experienced before.

After that, Bayu came again to various activities of the disciples, starting from Sunday worship, PDA (Bible Discussion Meeting), prayer night, hangouts, as well as sports day. He became quite close to a number of members of the Palangka Raya congregation, but he was still shy and reluctant to study the Bible.

In September 2019, after feeling that there was an area of his life that needed to change, Bayu decided to study the word. In his first lesson, he felt touched and moved by the goodness of God. With that as his foundation, Bayu diligently continued his Bible lessons week after week.

Even though his heart was open to the word, that did not mean everything went easily for Bayu. He was often lonely, felt like he had no friends, and then tried to forget those feelings by spending time playing games on his phone. This often caused him to neglect his quiet time, but he tried to break free from it and learn to be more disciplined with his time.

Slowly, Bayu began to feel the difference, that something was missing in his life when he did not have his quiet time. Through the time he set aside with God, Bayu felt his life become more fulfilling, and he was no longer lonely. In addition, several brothers and sisters also occasionally came to visit his home.

When he was about to make the decision to be baptized, Bayu faced the challenge of telling his parents about that desire, and they were not immediately in agreement. However, after he explained the changes he had felt in his life, they finally gave their blessing.

On March 8, 2020, Bayu gave himself to be baptized. Now he is living a different new life, free from feelings of loneliness. May all glory be only to the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
