Morning Blessings: Blessings from a Peaceful Mother

For mothers, the morning is usually the most critical part of the day. As soon as we wake up, we immediately wrestle with things in the kitchen, preparing breakfast, sorting out the laundry, making sure the children’s and husband’s needs are met, and so on. It almost feels impossible to find peace at a time like this.
Not infrequently, the super-busy conditions of the morning make our emotions rise and fall. Shouting, scolding, and sharp words come out without control, and after that, mother, father, and child leave the house with clouded feelings.
How can you keep your mornings from becoming a horror routine? Can morning become the best time, full of peace and joy, for a mother and her family??
Prayer First, Then Everything Else
In His daily life, the Lord Jesus Himself often faced unpleasant situations. He did much good, but the response He received was not equal to it. Aware that His heart needed to be strengthened, Jesus always began His day with prayer.
Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, He got up and went out. He went to a solitary place and prayed there. – Mark 1:35
The power of prayer is what strengthened Jesus so that He was able to respond rightly even when circumstances were not supportive.
With all her multitaskingability, a mother usually prioritizes housework over everything else. What should we cook today? Have the children’s uniforms been ironed? Has the floor been swept? Housework never really ends. Once you step into the field, there is no time left before leaving for work. The earlier we wake up, the more there is that can be (and must be) done.
Therefore, before wrestling with endless busyness, take time to pray every time you wake up. Prayer will strengthen our souls to face that day’s challenges.
Watch Your Words
As mothers, we need to be sensitive not only to the cleanliness of the house or our children’s clothes, but above all, to the words that come out of our mouths. Be careful with every word you throw out, whether in the form of scolding, complaint, or even curses in response to a morning emergency.
A good person brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil person brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. – Matthew 12:35
Words are a picture of our hearts. When we are provoked into speaking evil words, be alert: it is an indication that our hearts are becoming evil. A mother’s words can build up or tear down her family itself.
Peace at Home Begins with the Mother
Because they are so busy taking care of the household, mothers often forget about their own well-being. Even so, a mother also needs me time, that is, time for herself.
For this, we can learn from Jesus, who used moments of me-time to build His relationship with His Father.
pray and reflect on the Word, a mother’s heart will be much stronger. God’s Word fills our hearts with peace, so that we are not easily provoked emotionally when facing difficult situations.
Only a mother who has Christ in her heart is able to bring peace into her household.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, because to this you were called in one body. – Colossians 3:15
A mother holds a very important role in the joy of the family. If the mother is gloomy, the family is dim. If she is happy, the family is cheerful. Blessed is the mother who brings peace into her family.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. – Matthew 5:9
When a child is whining, a mother will embrace them and ask with full empathy, “What’s wrong, dear? How can Mother help you feel more excited about going to school today?” instead of scolding, pinching the child, or roughly dragging them into the bathroom for punishment. It may be that a child only needs the mother’s embrace in the morning, but not every mother knows or is able to meet that need.
Creating a Morning Full of Blessings
The following four tips can help you become a channel of morning blessings for the family:1. Get Enough Rest
Avoid staying up late and set an alarm so that you can wake up earlier and have enough time to do your morning routine. A mother who wakes up with a body and heart at ease will find it easy to create a morning full of blessings.
2. Bless One Another
Make an agreement that whoever wakes up in the morning must greet one another. No gloomy faces, much less slamming doors. Even if the start of the day sometimes feels heavy, keep greeting one another warmly.
3. Create a Good Atmosphere
Instead of being annoyed by the clatter of spoons or the roar of the blender, why not try playing your favorite music? Listening to worship songs or songs with uplifting lyrics can lift your spirit and carry positive feelings throughout the day.
4. Delegate the Work
Do not force yourself to do everything, because we are not superwomen. There is no need to prove how capable you are by handling everything on your own. It is better to pass some of the work to others. For example, using a (laundry), weekly cleaning service, or whatever fits your needs. That way, you do not always have to rush to finish so many things.
You can also involve all members of the family in household chores. Give them responsibilities according to their respective capacities. The results may not be as perfect as you want, but at least the burden does not pile up on you. A mother who is free from stress will be able to make herself happy and her family.
Make morning blessings part of your daily life. Wake from a beautiful dream and live in a more beautiful world. A smile and a loving greeting, these are what should color a mother’s morning. Bless your family with love and peace at the start of the day. Amen. - Church GKDI is currently present in 35 cities.
