Good News from the Palangka Raya Congregation - Yessy

A Heart Called to Seek

A willingness to learn and a desire to live out God’s word are extraordinary motivations for someone to know God. Beginning with a search on the internet, this longing eventually led Yessy to the community of Jesus’ disciples in Palangka Raya in April 2019. 

Previously, Yessy had been actively involved in a local spiritual community, but chose to stop because she felt there was no change in herself. Yet her longing for a community that could help her life and guide her in living out the word kept drawing her to read articles and reports on Christian activities on GKDI Instagram. In the end, Yessy was moved to contact the website GKDI, where her communication was then passed on to the disciples of Jesus in Palangka Raya. 

When she was first contacted, Yessy immediately welcomed it and was willing to come to the outdoor service held by the congregation. Her seriousness in seeking the truth of God’s word moved her to continue on to Bible Study. 

Meeting after meeting, she attended with a heart willing to learn. Realizing that there were many things in her beliefs that were not in line with the word, Yessy became even more eager to examine the Bible. Her humility and willingness to learn helped Yessy see what God’s word truly is, and how to live according to that word itself.

Over time, Yessy began applying the things she learned one by one. She built a personal relationship with God through prayer and quiet time, which she had never done before, and also prayed together with other brothers and sisters. Yessy also learned to change her character, perspective, and attitude toward her family. She was even willing to do the hardest things in the process of repentance, namely to forgive, to ask for forgiveness, and to make peace with every friend and family member. 

The changes she experienced during Bible Study led Yessy to decide to become a disciple of Jesus in October 2019. Not only that, the transformation in her life had a great impact on her family, even leading both of her younger siblings to study the Bible now. 

Yessy’s greatest dream is for her entire family to know the truth and live in it. Certainly, this is a great inspiration for the congregation, especially for the sisters who are helping both of her younger siblings come to know the Lord. To God be the glory!
