4 Good Sentences to Strengthen Your Relationships

Our words shape our relationships. Whether with friends, family, a spouse, or coworkers, choosing the right words truly matters.
Sadly, we often forget to say the right things. It may be because a relationship feels so ordinary that we care less about our words. Even so, the right words and sentences can strengthen a relationship.
The Importance of Good Words
Speaking is not difficult, but its effect is great.
Andrew Newberg, a neuroscience researcher, revealed that even a single word can change the arrangement of genes that regulate our emotions and feelings.
Positive words, according to Newberg, can improve health and reduce stress; negative words, on the other hand, worsen stress and reduce a person's ability to think.
From this, we understand how deeply good words matter. Both for ourselves and for others. What we say to someone will affect our relationship with that person.
A single compliment to a coworker can strengthen their moodthroughout the day. A single expression of thanks may brighten your friend's day. Also, sweet words may make your partner love you even more.
On the other hand, one hurtful insult can damage someone's mood A thoughtless joke can also leave someone feeling bitter.
So, our words determine our relationships. How good it would be if we spoke to one another with love!
4 Sentences to Strengthen Your Relationships
In the Bible, we can also see that God wants us to speak good words. As in Ephesians 4:29,Let no corrupt word come out of your mouth, but only what is good for building up where needed, so that those who hear it may receive grace.
Want to know some good words worth saying? Here are 3 of them that you can try.
1. I Love You
Proverbs 27:5 says, better an open rebuke than hidden love. Love that is not expressed is hardly love at all. That is because love is not merely a feeling; love must be expressed.
What is the easiest way to express love? Of course, through words. Yet pride may keep us from being able to say it.
I have experienced that too. I used to feel there was no need to express my love to the people closest to me, such as family and friends. Until finally, I realized that love truly must be expressed.
Little by little, I learned to express that love. For example, by saying that I am grateful for or proud of my friends. The result was good. My relationships with them also grew stronger.
Let us make it a habit to say that we love, that we care, that we cherish. Tell the people you love that you love them. To friends, coworkers, and above all to your spouse or family. Who would not be glad if our words were full of love?
2. Forgive Me
In relationships, there will surely be mistakes. There are times when we do wrong to others. The question is our attitude. Will we admit that mistake?
Saying “forgive me” is indeed hard. It takes humility to admit and take responsibility for a mistake. Though difficult, apologizing will repair a relationship. We show that we are willing to take responsibility and humble enough to admit what we did.
Therefore, Proverbs 28:13 rightly says, Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will receive mercy. Admitting our mistakes by asking forgiveness is one step toward repairing a relationship.
So, though it is difficult, do your best to ask forgiveness. It feels heavy to admit a mistake, but at least you show a sincere desire to repent.
3. Thank You
Saying thank you feels easy, yet it is important. These two words show that we appreciate someone's kindness toward us.
This sentence may often be forgotten. We can become complacent and assume that such kindness is only to be expected. Even so, giving thanks is a sign that we value that person.
Psalm 106:1 says, Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! His steadfast love endures forever. If we give thanks to God for His goodness, it is only right that we also thank those who are kind to us.
Have you given thanks for the kindness you have received? When you appreciate another person's help, surely they will be even more glad to help you again later.
Conclusion
Good words may be simple, but their impact is great. Our words will shape how someone feels toward us. As Maya Angelou said, “people will not forget the feelings you stirred in them.”
Good feelings arise from good words. Therefore, have you spoken kindly today?
