3 Things We Can Learn from the Work of the Lord Jesus

Let us learn from the verse below.

Matthew 9:1 After this Jesus got into a boat and crossed over. Then He arrived in His own town. 2 Some people brought to Him a paralytic lying on his bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Take heart, My son, your sins are forgiven.”

In His life Jesus was always working; He never stopped. He never paused. Besides that, He also took a person’s faith into account. We know that the paralytic above was eventually healed. He clearly has authority to forgive sins.

There is much we can learn from the Lord Jesus. However, from Matthew 9:1-2 we can learn 3 things and apply them in our daily lives.

1. He Takes Our Faith Into Account

It was not only the faith of this paralytic that the Lord Jesus noticed, but also the faith of those who brought this man to Him. That is why it is so important for us as proclaimers of the truth to truly believe in God. Believe that God is able to help and heal, if we sincerely want to draw near to Him and become His children.

We must always have faith that every person we serve will one day see and receive God. Faith like this will transform our hearts and our lives. For when we have faith, we will strive with full zeal. If we doubt them, we will lose the passion to serve and help them. If we are doubtful and hesitant, it will affect the way we listen to, assess, advise, and guide them.

Faith will give us optimism, zeal, perseverance, and seriousness because we have a vision that the people we help will be used by God. Faith like this will draw God’s attention, just as God saw the faith of the people who brought the paralytic.

2. Do Not Stop, Keep Going!

The Lord Jesus had just arrived after being driven out from across the lake. Yet He did not stop serving the people who came. As soon as He arrived there, at that very moment, He immediately received those who were seeking Him. The Lord always works, never grows weary, and does not need rest.

We cannot possibly equal God, who created the universe and all that is in it, but the One who set this example for us was Jesus, God in human form. Follow Jesus in this matter. If we understand the importance of saving souls, we will not stop doing God’s work.

3. He Readily Forgives Sin

Not only is He able, but the Lord Jesus is also willing to grant forgiveness of sins to sinners. Learning from Jesus, who has done and is willing to do this, how could we not be able to forgive others?

What often happens in our lives is that we find it hard to forgive. We weigh the advantages and disadvantages when we forgive someone. It should not be that way. We are expected to forgive anyone who sins against us. The Lord Jesus forgave the sins of this paralytic because indeed his sins, and the sins of all of us, are against the Lord Himself.

Let us learn from these things in your life and become someone more like Him!
